This article is the second instalment in a series that will highlight Premier League players who might be on the move this summer. It will analyse these players and how they could seamlessly integrate into Serie A teams, as well as the potential impact they could have and why a move away might benefit them. Some big Premier League names in this article!
Richarlison

With the £65 million deal for new striker Dominic Solanke, Richarlison has been the subject of heavy rumors of a move away, having already rejected a move to Saudi Arabia. The Brazilian has failed to live up to his transfer fee since moving to Tottenham from Everton in 2022. Although the striker has shown glimpses of the quality he displayed at Everton and Watford, Solanke is expected to take his spot in the starting XI, making a move away potentially beneficial for all parties.
A move to Italy would offer a fresh start for Richarlison, with several top clubs in Italy searching for a striker. Napoli could be a potential option, especially with Victor Osimhen set to leave this summer and the deal for his replacement, Romelu Lukaku, stalling. Another club potentially looking for a striker could be AC Milan; despite the signing of Álvaro Morata, Richarlison’s versatility across the front line may also attract interest.
A final potential suitor for Richarlison could be Atalanta, after a shocking transfer request by Ademola Lookman, Atalanta may look to Richarlison as a potential replacement to Lookman. Both can play out wide or up front and with a hefty potential fee for Lookman. Atalanta will be able to afford him.

Now, I’m not sure why, but Richarlison in a Napoli shirt is something I could see happening. Statistically, Richarlison is a more complete player, offering more to the side than Osimhen. The energy and aggression Richarlison brings to the pitch will likely resonate with Napoli fans. His ability to play across the front line—whether as a central striker, a winger, or even in a supporting role behind the main striker—makes him a versatile option. A fresh start in Italy may be a good option for the Brazilian.
Raheem Sterling

Following Sterling’s omission from the Chelsea squad last weekend, as well as the announcement that he is no longer part of Marseca’s plans, a move for Sterling is vital if the 31-year-old doesn’t want his career to fade away. Since his departure from Manchester City in 2022, he has struggled to make his mark, both for Chelsea and internationally. This window, he was linked to Juventus in a potential swap deal for Federico Chiesa, but with Chelsea’s acquisition of João Félix, this now seems unlikely.
A move to Serie A is still possible, and a fresh start in a new league could give Sterling the opportunity to end his career on a high note. Despite having lost some of his raw pace, he can still be a top-quality winger, and in a slightly slower, lower-tempo league like Serie A, he could shine. Realistically, one of Italy’s top clubs would need to pursue him for this to work due to his high wage demands. Juventus, especially with the imminent departure of Chiesa, needs a winger. Sterling would be a perfect fit with his ability to play on both wings and his directness, which is similar to Chiesa’s.
A move to Italy for Sterling is a pipe dream of mine. However, the wages he will demand are likely too high, and if I had to bet, a move to Saudi Arabia might be a more realistic option for him. Considering he hasn’t performed well since Euro 2020, the old Raheem of 2017/18 and 2018/19 seems like a long-forgotten, almost different player. Let’s see where he ends up.
João Cancelo

For two years, João Cancelo was the best full-back in the world, revolutionizing the left-back position by inverting into midfield. At Manchester City, he became one of their most dangerous offensive players, showcasing his ability with trivelas, skills, and finishes from outside the box. He had it all. However, after a falling out with Pep Guardiola and two unsuccessful loans at Bayern Munich and Barcelona, combined with no appearances so far this season, a move away from Manchester could do Cancelo wonders. A return to Serie A could be a possible option, with Inter Milan being a particularly suitable destination. With Dumfries missing seven games last season, Dimarco in and out of form, and given the way Inzaghi sets up Inter, a move to Internazionale would be perfect for Cancelo to once again demonstrate his attacking prowess from the wing-back position.

Cancelo’s ability to be a threat both on the right as a typical wing-back and on the left, where he can invert into midfield or stay wide, means he would be an excellent addition to Inter Milan or any Serie A team operating a five-at-the-back system (of which there are surprisingly many). Utilising Cancelo in a wing-back role also helps mask the weaker aspects of his game—his defending. At Juventus, Cancelo was often deployed as a winger, and his defensive frailties were exposed several times at Manchester City.
A move away and a fresh start could see him shine again. A return to Italy would give him this opportunity, and with teams like Inter Milan, Roma, and Atalanta—all operating with back threes—passing up on a loan or permanent move for the Portuguese full-back would be unwise. The only potential issue with an Italian return would be Cancelo’s salary.
